Who we are

Welcome to Decatur Marble & Granite Inc

Decatur Marble & Granite Inc. has been a family owned and operated business, operating from the same location for over 65 years, when Mr. Joe Hoover bought the business from the original owner. The business has been in operation over 95 years.

Mr. Hoover was a WWII Veteran, and after returning home from the war, worked in the monument business with his father in law in Haleyville, AL before returning to Decatur. In 2009, Mr. Hoover’s daughter and son in law, Cindy and Johnny Tapscott, bought the business. Mr. Hoover passed away in 2012, but his legacy continues with three generations working in the business at the present time.

Our goal is to provide quality service and treat everyone with care and compassion. Our company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Along with our Decatur location, we also have Athens Monument Company located at 805 South Clinton Street.
